2003 Volkswagen Beetle Tranmission

We got on the freeway and the transmission would not sift out of 3rd gear. Another time driving on the freeway everything was normal than I lost the power in 6th gear for about 5 seconds. It kept happening intermittently and we also noticed that the car would down sift kind of rough not a smooth down sift. We had the car about 8 months. We looked in the owners manual to see if we can service the transmission. We could find the dip stick. If there is any. Can you please recommend your expertise advice. Thank you. Roland

The dipstick on that vehicle is very short it does not stick out at all look at the top of the transmission and you will see like a plug that you can put your fingers on and twisted outwards.
