Engine Mechanical problem
2002 Volkswagen Beetle Automatic 90000 miles

DURING A BAD RAIN STORM MY BEETLE'S ENGINE SEIZED. IT HAPPENED ABOUT 5 MONTHS AGO. WOULD THEIR STILL BE EVIDENCE OF WATER ANYWHERE? ALSO IF THE ROD IS BENT DOES THAT PROVE THAT WATER CAUSED THE PROBLEM? THANKS

Hi DKELLLSTER,

If more than a certain amount of water enters the combustion chamber when the engine is running, it would cause the con rods to bend.

You cannnot hide the fact. Water in the engine would evaporate if the oil heats up when the engine is running, if engine not started, it is likely it would still be in the sump, below the oils if it is not already mixed up.
