It seems like whenever I back out of somewhere and go into drive the car jerks forward really quick and stops. The only other time I notice it is when i'm going 10-35mph. I just purchased the car, and i've driven it 300 miles already. My question is, is this something to be concerned about? All I know is it needs brake work. But I want to make sure I get everything. The car shakes also. But only when i'm using the brakes.

Have the fluid in the transmission checked. It might need a transmission filter change and fluid. If the car is idling high then it would jerk going from reverse to drive. It also might just be low on transmission fluid. The car drives ok but shaking when you are using the brakes probably is caused by a front warped brake rotor.
