When driving the car I the odometer section sounded like there was a screw loose rattling around. It started to get louder. Now it sounds very loud and the noise sounds like it is coming from other parts of the dash, but it still sounds be a loud vibrating sound and the steering wheel shakes a little. What the could it be?

Scan for codes for a misfire then have the dash checked for loose parts. You can do the scan yourself or take the car to an auto parts store and they can scan for a misfire. If you decide to do the scan yourself here is a link with great information on how to scan for codes.

I checked the dash for loose parts and there were no loose parts. I will check for misfire it seems to be running okay except for the wheel shimmy and the loud noise (vibrating).

The wheel shimmy could be a bad wheel bearing. Have that checked or it could be a bent rim that can transfer through whole car especially if on front end.

Also have it scanned for ABS codes. There may be a problem with a sensor which could be a wheel bearing on the side you are talking about. Some auto parts can do it but mostly it has to done by a professional.

Hmac300, thanks for trying to help with the Pontiac G6 problem. I borrowed a friends lift and it turned out to be the lower control arm and the wheel bearing.
