Engine Mechanical problem
2003 Vauxhall Vectra Two Wheel Drive Manual 84000 miles

Please can you tell me if it is a common thing for the crankshaft pulley to shear off the engine of a 2.2 DTI Vectra? Why would it do that? Are Vauxhall at fault?

Hi there,

I have no technical data on this engine, but it is very rare to have this happen, if it is a type that is secured by a central bolt, i can only imagine that the bolt was not tight allowing the pulley to flog about and do the damage, this is not uncommon.
