2001 Vauxhall Corsa 2001 Corsa Ignition Issues

Put the key in, can use the radio etc. Turn key to stage II (Expecting lights on dash etc) Nothing happens. Turn to ignition - expecting the car to turn over - nothing happens.
ANyopne got any clues as to whats going on?

Sorted it myself (with alittle help from Google!)
Turn out that occasionally it wouldnt work (at all) and occasionally it would "machine gun" type sound - seems this was caused by a "Run-Down" but not "Flat" battery.
Charged battery for an hour or so - OK now - though ofc now I have to watch the battery ;)
