1999 Vauxhall Astra fan not cutting in

the engine fan is not cutting in and allowing the temperature gauge to go into the red i have checked the fan direct from the battery and that is ok

check for breaks in the wiring and check/replace the ECT (engine coolant temp) sensor !!
