Hi guys,

I have rebuilt my 454, with the help of your videos. I have a flat tapped camshaft with hydrolic lifter. All new. Originally I had set the valves way too tight. I loosened them to make her run. Now she runs I loosened them until they started clicking. En tightened them just enough to stop the clicking. I want to know how I need to adjust the valves.
Cheers

Good afternoon,

Assuming you have the original cam and not a performance cam, the adjustment is as follows.

You could do it either running or engine off.

I prefer engine off. You bring the cylinder to top dead center compression and loosen the rocker arm until it is loose. Then with one hand, turn the push rod and tighten the adjuster nut at the same time. Tighten the adjuster until the push rod stops turning. That is 0 lash. Tighten the nut 1/2 turn and you are done.

Do that to both the intake and exhaust valves. Do one cylinder at a time.
