About a month ago I had my front brakes replaced by a k&w auto shop, which later were replaced in a few days after for high performance brakes. That being said, about a week or two ago my car began to slightly squeak on bumps and also while accelerating away from red lights and stop signs, after coming to a complete stop. It sounds and feels like it could either be coming from my driver’s seat bouncing up and down or from the front passenger underside, possibly my suspension bouncing. I don’t want to instantly jump to a serious conclusion such as a bad engine mount, a worn tie rod or even simply a loose ball baring. I need to figure out what is causing this before I go back to a mechanic and end up getting the incorrect item fixed and making things worse for me both financially and mechanically.

Before I had noticed that noise however, I had also begun to feel what is now even more vigorous. My car shaking while it sits to warm up in idle in the mornings. I am very unsure if these two things could be related but my car’s fluids are working and keeping fine, so no leaks. My brakes are working fine, with no noises. And my engine does not make a sound. The tires noise however does not clank, it does not click, and it does not happen while I turn but only when I am going over bumps, acting like a squeaky shock system perhaps. This does not occur when I am driving high speeds, low speeds, turning, or any other time other than the first 3-5 seconds after giving it gas from when I have come to a complete stop at a light or stop sign. Or when I go over a bump. This is why I initially diagnosed my issue as coming from my driver seat. It felt like it was occurring, most of the time, when I felt my self bounce. I just don’t want to die, crash, or end up in the hole again with this car while I am traveling an hour over a mountain to work or driving through town with my taxi services.

P.S. Yes while I am driving over the mountain my car does sometimes make this noise, not the shaking, when elevation of the road changes.

Hello,

Yes, it does sound like it is probably strut related, but let's do some testing to make sure. In the diagrams down below I have included the Suspension Strut and Shock Absorber Testing [On Vehicle] guide, and the Trim Height Inspection guide, both from the vehicle manufacturer, to see if your shocks and/or struts have failed, and need to be replaced. Please go through these guides and get back to us with what you find out. We can go from there, if necessary.

Thanks,
Alex
