I replaced the plugs found a dead coil on number eight cylinder. I disconnected the battery replaced coil pack. Truck idled fine for about five minutes so I took it around the block. The check engine light came on started idling very rough and back firing. I checked the coil pack again and now this one is dead. Also my air conditioner is blowing out the defrost only and when I turn the dial to adjust it the rpm's drop. Can you help?

On all misfires I recommend seeing a local mechanic for the cheapest option so you do not go throwing money at parts that may be still good. He can freeze frame it and see what is messing up if it is a sensor or injector. Then he can check basic engine components. It is not like it used to be for misfires as any sensor as well as injector can cause this. You can check resistance of plug wire and check compression as well as look for a vacuum leak as those can cause it as well. Plug wire resistance is 5000 ohms per foot.
