I keep getting code P0462. Replaced fuel pump, cleared the code and I still get the code. I got the fuel pump from Pit Stop Auto website. This is what I ordered - www. Pitstopauto. Com/Catalog/Part?Pid=52521&vepid=13461010
and I think I should have gotten this one - www. Pitstopauto. Com/Catalog/Part?Pid=52709&vepid=13189283
I need to know if putting in the wrong fuel pump would make the trouble stay on or would the code mean I need to check the PCM?

Hi,

The code is directly related to the fuel level sensor. Are you experiencing issues with the fuel level gauge?

As far as the issue is concerned, the wrong assembly could cause the issue. However, I question if you would have been able to install it if it was wrong.

Let me know if the gauge is the issue. Also, I attached a pic below explaining the code and what could be the cause.

Take care and let me know what I can do to help.

Joe

Hello Joe, I did notice that when the engine light came back on with the same code, the fuel hand dropped to empty even though the tank is full. Now what? Thanks.

Hi,

If you feel the relay clicking, then it sounds like it's working. So, either we have a broken or shorted wire, connection issue, or a faulty part.

At this point, a scan tool that can communicate with the different modules is needed to check the fuel level indicator voltage.

If you look at the pic below, it describes the code, possible causes, and what to check for.

Let me know if that is something you can have done.

Joe

Hello Joe,

When I turn the key to start my car, I can hear the fuel pump priming. So, I reset the code and so far, it has not returned. Fingers crossed it won't. LOL. Thanks for all your help.
