Hey, my friend has a Nissan Latio, I did not see the make listed so I put note.

His car was shipped from Japan to my country, he recently got his transmission oil on his Nissan Latio checked and it's now due for change, he wants to know what oil is good to use. I know there is Amsoil for the CVT and I know they're good brand. Even though the make of the vehicle is Nissan can the Amsoil CVT be used to replace CVT oil he got the vehicle with?

Hi,

This vehicle is not offered in the US, so I have very limited technical information. However, I'll try to help.

The brand of fluid isn't the issue. What you need to do is check to see if the Amsoil meets the same manufacturer specifications as the OEM recommended fluid. If it does, it should be fine. And yes, Amsoil is an excellent product. Just make sure it meets the same specifications.

Let me know if that is what you needed.

Take care,
Joe

Wow, that answer was really helpful. Okay, so I did some digging online via Google, recommended CVT oil for the exact make and model and this is what I saw "Nissan CVT Fluid NS-2 (“green fluid”) applies to all Nissan vehicles equipped with a CVT built prior to 2013. Use NS-2 green fluid to service these vehicles."

For the Amsoil CVT Fluid, I checked for some of the specifications as you said and this is what I found, "Field testing was conducted to compare AMSOIL Synthetic CVT Fluid and Nissan NS-2 CVT Fluid. Four vehicles (two equipped with AMSOIL CVT Fluid and two with Nissan NS-2 CVT Fluid) were driven 100,000 miles before the transmissions were torn down and inspected.

AMSOIL CVT Fluid provided outstanding protection throughout the duration of the field trial, proving it is a high-quality replacement for Nissan NS-2 CVT Fluid."

There were photos to prove what was stated, so I'm guessing that the Amsoil CVT Fluid can be used in the Nissan Latio that I asked about.

Please correct me if I made a mistake anywhere or if I failed to understand anything that was written above. What are your thoughts on this?
