What Type of transmission fluid to use? They say not to use synthetic fluid when I was reading one post. And some say to use Toyota type fluid. And I don't want to put the wrong type of fluid since I got another transmission. And it says to use Dextron 2 or 3 but don't want to get any type of fluid.

Good morning,

I attached the fluid requirements below.

Do not use synthetic unless it is a new transmission that has never had fluid in it.

Nope. That stuff does nothing. All the additives you need are already in the fluid.

One more question. Does this stuff makes the transmission have more problems even if it says it's synthetic?

No, not at all. It has no effect on anything with the issues. It supposedly treats the fluid and clutches but does not perform that well at all.

I have another question. Transmission is not slipping or anything but it takes a while for it to shift gears like first and second the rpms go way up before it shifts and when it wants to go to 3rd gear, I have to let off the gas for it to shift. What is the problem? Could it be the throttle linkage or the kickdown cable or what could it be?

There is a throttle cable on the throttle body and it is adjustable. It is held by 2 nuts. You can loosen the nuts and move the cable back and forth. Each time you adjust it, road test it to see if you went the right way until it comes down.

Roy

1. Remove air intake hose, fully depress accelerator pedal and ensure that throttle valve is fully open. If not, adjust accelerator linkage.
2. Hold accelerator pedal fully depressed, and adjust cable to obtain 0-0.04 inch clearance between end of housing and inner cable stop, Fig. 1.
3. Tighten adjusting nuts to secure adjustment and release accelerator pedal.
4. Fully depress accelerator pedal and recheck adjustment.
5. Install air hose and road test vehicle.

Okay, then you have valve body issues. The throttle pressure valve may be sticking inside the bore.

You will need to drop the valve body to access the valve.

Okay thanks. I had also realized that the d light doesn't even light up on the dashboard after I had installed the previous transmission. It had used to come on when I had shift it to drive. But it doesn't come on anymore. Is it just telling me something or just could be a blown bulb in the dashboard?
