Transmission's reverse gear will not engage

Accidentally shifted in reverse while driving, damaged reverse gear. Replaced automatic transmission with a used transmission. But that transmission would shift hard in first. A year later having to remove transmission to replace main oil seal. I tore down transmission and replaced first and second clutch packs and reverse gear from old transmission. Fixed the hard shift but reverse will not engage.

I have seen reverse not work when the neutral safety switch stopped working, but you can try checking the reverse lights and if they don't work this will be the problem, here is the location of the switch so you can change it out. Check out the images (below). Let us know how it goes.
