I checked the transmission fluid and it was at the top of the hash marks and medium gold in color. I’ve had the car a year and always heard a faint whine on acceleration, but was told it was nothing. Being a woman, I get dismissed when asking questions.
I want to take the car to a transmission shop but have no way of knowing if a full transmission is needed. How to know.
Also, it seems that a used one should last the life of a car with my mileage or should I buy rebuilt?

We need to start this process with checking for codes. Let's stop by a parts store that offers this free of charge and they will be able to scan the vehicle and give you a print out. Then just let me know what they are and we can get a good idea as to what the issue could be. Clearly we may need to do a little diagnostic work however, at least this way we will have an idea as to what the issue is prior to taking into a shop.

Let me know if you have questions and then we can go from there. We are here to help so we can walk through this together. Thanks

Thanks, Kenny. I tried all the auto parts stores but they would not do a code check citing Covid virus as the reason. I went to “Yelp” and took my car to a transmission guy. He is highly rated as honest. Crossing fingers.

Wow. I haven't heard that one yet but I guess it makes sense. Unfortunately it is changing everything at least for the time being.

Please keep me updated with what they find. I am curious what this could be. I suspect a solenoid issue but clearly that is a guess with what we know so far.

Thanks. Please stay safe.
