1995 Toyota Supra Automatic 80,000 miles

I am going to buy a 1995 Toyota Supra TT.
It's a right hand drive, it's automatic and I wanted to know how much will it cost to change it into a manual transmission. Prices from a mechanic would charge and DIY?
Thank you.

Hi there,

this is a lot of work and I doubt that you will find a mechanic to quote this, it would be done on a Hourly rate, I could imagine around 15 hrs at a guess, this would depend on how long it would take to replace the pedal box under the dash, the rest should not be overly difficult, are you suppling all the parts?

Hi,
Thanks for your reply,
Yes I will be suppling the parts.
How much do you think it will cost
if I go to a mechanic for that?
I'm pretty sure if I do it my self it will be much cheaper, right? I'm also thinking about doing it my self, well with my dad's help of course like a father song thing.

Hi there,

You will save a lot of money doing it your self, as I said you could be looking at anything between $1500-$2000.00 in labour if you get a mechanic to do it, so I would be looking at the job as a home project if its is not a urgent job.

Wow just for their labor? In such little time?
I would understand if it was more time or something, but yet again if I were a mechanic I think I would also charge around that amount per hour.
Yea, I'm going to do it as a home project instead. I'm in no hurry; it's better to take time and get it right the first time, then doing it wrong and figuring out what went wrong. Plus I would get to know my car more if I do it myself.

I seen the picture you have are you from the U.K?
That's where I'm getting my car from.
