Drivers side door lock

Hi - I have a 2002 Toyota Rav4. Recently, driver's side door lock does not lock when pressing remote the first time. I usually have to press two-three times before it locks. Also, when I unlock using the remote, it may work the first time, but not always - sometimes, two or three presses are necessary. Is this a DIY fix? Thanks!

With it not locking and unlocking the first time could be that the linkage is dirty or needs lublrication. Try spraying some lube onto the linkage. There could be other problems with it, but that is where I would start.

Thank you so much! What lube do you recommend? Will WD40 do?
So you don't think it's an actuator problem?

W d 40 will do, it could be the actuator is going bad. Try lubing it first, when you lube it work the lube in by unlocking and locking the door a couple of times
