Upon accleration i hear this pinging noise or rattle; cannot pinpoint exact problem; i installed new plugs had eng decarbonized; used techron; stp; or Lucus fuel additives and still have this eng noise. There is no chek eng light. Over 3 yrs ago had eng tensioner pulley assy replaced. What could it be? I am thinking it could be a knock sensor; but have I have to remove intake maniflod just to get ot it and the sensors are not cheap. Rob

If enging is pinging, over time it can cause damage.

Best approach it to scan PCM in live data mode to see if PCM is detecting knock, if so PCM should retard timing up to 15 degrees.

If knock is detected and timing is not retarded then knock sensor or possible crank sensor.
