I bought a used 1998 Corolla VE about 4 months ago. The car was driving well until recently. My car seems to vibrates substantially while braking just before coming to a stop and vibrates slightly at the instant I push on the gas pedal. Once it begins to pick up speed there is no vibration. This happened after I left my car out side for a long time on an extremely cold day. (Usually park in the basement otherwise). What could be the cause of this problem?

I recommend you have the brake rotors checked for warpage.

In addition to great advice by Raz:

If front rotors are OK, have rear drums checked, if out of round they will cause same symptoms including rear wheel "hop".
