1998 Toyota Corolla short melted pos cable

1998 Toyota Corolla 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

corrolla for no apparent reason the pos cable from the basttery to the starter melted taken out som addlt wires in the harness with them. I changed the section of harness that was bad and the lines to the starter. The battery was dammaged by the melting line so I cahnged it out now I have no electric at all when I hook up the cable to the battery and when hooking up the neg it sparks and sizzles. All the fuses seem good and the grounds seem OK HELP

There is a short to ground in the positive cable. If the cable is frayed or insulation is missing and it comes in contact with body or block, it will short.
You will have to inspect the positive cables and wires.

We Have Worked On A Few Of These With The Same Issue, Check Your Starter For Some Reason On These Corollas When The Starters Get Worn They Short To Ground Causing This Issue, We Have Had At Least 3 Of These With In The Past Year. Hope This Helps
