1997 Toyota Corolla 142565 miles

My car has a check engine light on with code indicating that My EGR valve need to be replace. The Auto zone associate diagnos the car and that's what he concluded. I replace the EGR valve and reset the computer in the car by unpluging the baterry whlile the engine is off 8 times. I did the hundred mile drive it still come up. The vehicle still shake or chokes on Idle position and it consume a lot of gas too. And another thing the car does is when I am doing 70 mph on the High I feel a drag or resistance as if its pulling or towing something. When I remove my feet off the gas peddale the vehicle looses speed momentum very fast as if I was down shifting on an mannual transmission you can hear the engine humming too. I was told it may be a bad oxygen sensor or an Engine control valve. Can some tell me how many Oxygen sensor does a toyota corolla 97 have? What is really wrong with the car? Thanks!
Feel free to E-mail me too about it.

Rescan the car and see what codes are present. The scanner should be able to erase the code(s).

If O2 sensor is bad, there should be a code to that effect.

Use the code scanner, rather than throwing parts at it.

EGR should only flow at certain speeds and conditions, if it flows at idle it will cause stalling, bad idle.
