An engine having an engine management system problem will cause the transmission not to operate properly. Check the fluid level and also go ahead and changed out the filter. Also check these following sensors-coolant temperature/throttle position/vehicle speed sensors it gives the computer input signals to command the transmiison to operate effectively.
