I have the above car with a 1.8 engine and the crank pully has slipped and damaged the end of the crank. I have found a 1997 corolla with a 1.6 with 165000 miles that looked good. Can I replace my engine with the 1.6 an will the fuel system from my 1.8 and every thing else from my engine fit the 1.6. I also have the Brain from the 1997. My son works on cars and thinks it will work but has not traded from one year to another.

Ok as Mechanic I am going to tell you no don't do it. You are going from an obd 1 system to an obd 2 system and this can cause issues. To keep it simple I would call around to salvage yards or find an place that does japanize exchange engines and get the right one. See the computer from the 97 will not just plug and play in the 94 as the systems are completely different. I hope this helps. Thanks and have a great day.
