Hello what is the difference between the gear shifter on a corolla 94 and the shifter on a 2009 camry. Do they work the same way. Is it possible to upgrade from one to another.

You mean the fact that the 09 has a sort of zig-zag shift pattern as opposed to the straight shifter?

The 09 has a 5 or 6 speed auto and is electronically controlled by the PCM, so the shift throw, or overall length is longer than the 3 or 4 speed in a 94.

You may be able to adapt that style of shifter (looks only) from a 09 4 speed car (Yaris for example) if your car has a 4 speed.

Having said all that, it would be A LOT of work.

Try TRD (Toyota Racing Development) or the aftermarket (Hurst etc.) For one that fits.

Helo, in a camry 2009 the shifter console is high. I want to upgrade to that style is it possble. Or even the atraigt shifter from a camry 2005 with the center console will be ok to me. I want a high level shifter not the one that is low like in my corolla 94

Possible, but you would have to do a lot of fabrication, create a console, move shifter linkage etc.

If you are thinking of transferring the 09 console, you probably could, but it would not look factory without a lot of fabrication.
