Our car is all power, the battery drained and we have to remove it for recharging. How can we pop open the hood, since we cannot open the doors with the key only?

The key should still open the door, however, you could raise the car, put on stands, remove stone shields.
You should be able to get jumpers to the battery, not easy, but possible and hook up long enough to get enough power to open the door. You only need to connect the positive, the ground can connect to the trans.

Have the charging system tested afterwards.
