Whenever I start up my celica, the gas gauge will start blinking, and blink for about two minutes then it will show empty. I have just recently replaced the sender unit in the gas tank but did not resolve the issue.
Do you
have the same problem?

Hello and thanks for donating!

If your fuel gauge is not operating or is operating abnormally, this is caused by faulty fuel receiver gauge, fuel sender gauge, meter circuit or wiring harness. Since you stated sender was replaced, next to inspect will be the circuitry on back of instrument cluster. If anything looks burnt than that is the fault. Also inspect wiring while cluster is out. If both circuit and wiring are OK then replacement of receiver gauge is needed.

Hi, I know this doesn't solve your problem. But we have both a 2003 Tundra and a 2003 Tacoma. The Tundra has had fuel gauge issues almost from day one, and the Tacoma has recently started having issues. I don't remember at how many miles the Tundra started having problems but the Tacomas has nearly 100, 00 miles on it. I personally don't think the mileage has anything to do with the problem. I think something was an inferior product from the manufacturer. It just took a little longer for it to fail in the Tacoma. Both gauges do the same thing - fluctuate - show low fuel in the tank then show full, or vice versa. I think this is an issue that should be taken up with Toyota.
