Help! My auto's power steering calls for ATF fluid, when I checked the level the other day the person who had replaced my rack had filled it up with power steering fluid. Will this cause an internal leak in my system? Should I contact the mechanic who replaced it?

Are you sure it calls for ATF? That doesn't make a lot of sense to me, especially owning a '91 GT.

On the other hand, standard ATF and power steering fluid are virtually the same thing; one's just died a different color. Modern cars are a different story, but I know a few motorheads and mechanics who use the two virtually interchangeably in older cars and trucks. It won't cause a leak but if you are unhappy with the repair contact the mechanic and have him switch it to the hydraulic fluid you prefer.
