2007 Toyota Camry security alarm

While I am driving an alarm will sound and a message will show on the message center that says the hood is open when it is not. When I park the car and lock the doors several hours later the security alarm will go off, this may happen several time during the night.
Can you help me solve this problem?

Hi Neal,

Thank you for the donation.

The hood switch is out of adjustment and when there are any vibration or body shear of the hood, the switch would come into contact as if the hood has not been closed correctly. This condition would also cause the alarm to be triggered intermittently.

Check the hood switch adjustment and stopper.

Can you tell me where the hood switch and stopper are located? Can I get to them without special tools?

Sorry for the delay in replying.

I am not sure of the exact location of the hood switch for your model but it should be visible if you open the hood and check the panel, most likely near the headlights.

No special tools are required but a screw driver and/or plier would be required to adjust it.

Check if the hood switch bracket is bent too far away and not allowing the switch to be closed fully when hood is locked.
