My 2006 Toyoto Camry was bought just 2 years ago. I went to the dealer for a regular maintenance and they indicated that the rear brake pad is only 30% remaining. I am just wondering if this is normal. I think during braking, most of the force are on the front brake. Why should the rear brake wear faster than the front? Just 8 months ago, their inspection said that both front and rear pads are 75% remaining. By proportion, it should not be wearing that fast in the last 8 months from 75% to 30%. Could that be some other factor causing this? Appreciate your help.

Hi,

Stiff or stuck slider bolts and/or pistons can cause the problem.

Sure no error with the guy who gave the report?

Rule of thumb is most rear pads last at least as long as the front brakes, 30% seems like a number just thrown out there, pads only need to be replaced when the are worn to a thickness equal to or less than the plate they are glued to, see if you can look at them to find out. Or go to a tire shop and get a second free opinion!
