Electrical problem
2001 Toyota Camry 4 cyl Automatic 30000 miles

My check engine light only turns on when it is hot out. Whenever it is cool out the car has no problems and drives perfectly. Currently the car shifts very erratically and the speedometer does not work correctly or sometimes at all. I have replaced the Vehicle speed sensor and the car worked perfectly for a day then the problem came right back. I also reused the rotating shaft that was on the old VSS. What could be the problem and is there a simple way to check?

KHLow2008.
I have tried this out and it seems that the connection at the ECM has the correct voltage going to it, but would this test also prove that the wires from the VSS harness to the ECM are still good or is there another test that can help me decide this?

If the voltage test good, that means the wires going to the PCM are good and no further test are required. However as the problem is intermittent, check connectors for contaminations and looseness as these would cause the problem indicated.
