Emission test soon - have a cel -went to auto zone - code p1135 - I think 02 sensor in front - but then heard it could be the gas cap - so I replaced the cap - took the battery cables off for an hour - put them back on and - the light stayed off for about thirty seconds - my luck - does taking the battery cables clear the computer or do I need to have it cleared by a scanning tool. Also should I change the pcv valve before the 02 sensor. I know the sensor should be replace anyway - but money is tight. How much is your cheapest- but good scanning tool? More than 1 question - but I sure could use the help. Thank you. Linda

Sometimes it does sometimes not. Just to be sure, go back to autozone and have them clear it. But if your o2 sensor is bad then its gonna come on again. I would just get an o2 sensor(the one that I could afford) and replace it. And yes its always good to change that pcv valve. It will cause more problems than you would believe. You can get a scan tool at wal mart for 89.00. Even cheaper than that if you do a search online. Good luck let me know whats going on
