I have a 2000 camry. Every time I let go of the accelerator at anywhere b/w 55 and 65, it jerks. It feels like u engine stopped for a sec or two.I did a major transmission service, tune up, oil change, fuel induction and everything. It still has the problem. At that particular speed if I try to slow down by taking the foot of the accelerator slowly, I can feel the car jerking too like moving front and back. So if there is anyone who know what is likely the problem. Pls let me know.I took it to many dealerships and car shops, they tell me there is no problem. Well the thing is that they drive it for a minute and come back so I guess its hard for them too.

Hi naiju84,

I would suggest checking the EGR system. The problem seems to be from the engine.

Try with Od off and see if the problem persist with rpm about 2000 and maybe at a lower speed.

Is there anyway we can clean the EGR valve instead of buying a new one or do I have to buy a new one instead.

Hi naiju84,

If the EGR is clogged with carbon, it can be cleaned with some scraping and carb cleaner. However if the valve is stuck due to failure, cleaning would not help.

You need to clean the passage under it as well whether the EGR is replaced or not.

Hi naiju84,

What is the jerking due to? Is it the trans or the engine?

Is there any trans shifting problem like harsh shift when up or down shifting?
