Avalon cuts off

2001 Toyota Avalon 68,500 miles
My wife's car. It cut off on her while stopped at a traffic light last Friday. Continued to do so unless she was giving it gas. It restarts now, but continues to cut off unless the gas pedal is pressed.
Any ideas are certainly appreciated.

Ended up being the battery. According to the dealership.

Car would start fine. Just cut off when I removed my foot from the gas.

Save some money. Check your batteriy if you experience this problem.
