I have a new engine and have moved to where the night temperatures are between 25-35 degrees @ an elevation of 5000 ft. When I start my 4 Runner in the morning it has a loud knocking sound which stops when the idle drops. Also as I rev the engine there is a gurgling sound when I release the throttle. Is this a knock sensor or?

The gurgling may be the air injection. The engine noise. Are you using a filter with a check valve? Those engines the filter lays on its side and will drain back into the engine overnight. The factory filters have a valve that keeps that from happening. Also you will want to use a thinner oil for the low temps. Try a 5w-30 and see if it oils faster int hecold
