Timing belt is off, I think?

I changed the spark plugs, the coil, the crankshaft sensor, the camshaft sensor, and the spark plug wires. I put the firing as 1234 and one on coil 1324 or are they 1342 so it finally started I drove one mile and I heard a noise then it started to slow down and turned off. Well, I opened where the timing belt is and I found that somehow one of my helpers forgot to tell me they dropped a screw and I found it by one of the teeth of the belt. So, I got it and put the cover back on well I try it and it drains my battery, but it shoots you know where you put starter fluid to help it start and it (i call it farts out). Well, every time I try to start it, it farts, but no start. I have court tomorrow and I have been under and over this car I don't know what to do. One other thing I'm a female so please go easy on me. Thank you please help me!

Hi,

Is it possible for you to record it cranking and upload it for me to hear? Based on what you are describing, it sounds like you had it together correctly. However, it also sounds like the screwdriver caused the belt to jump time. As a result, the ignition is firing at the wrong time and backfiring through the intake.

We really need to be careful with the timing if that is the issue because this is what is called an interference engine. What that means is this. If the timing is off, the tops of the pistons can come in contact with an open valve. If that happens, it causes major internal damage.

If this is the case and since you have been cranking it, recording it for me shouldn't cause any more damage when recording it. I should be able to tell if it is a timing issue.

So how does the firing go high to low, is that correct 1342?

Hi,

Yes, that is the correct firing order. See the pics below related to the firing order and cylinder 1 location.

I need to ask something. Do you understand that the firing order isn't relevant when installing a timing belt? I don't want you to get the two things mixed up.
