So, I began with a normal timing chain replacement. All new everything except the cam phasers. For whatever reason it won't stay in time. Keeps jumping. It has done it four times already and I'm about to do it again. What would be making it jump time? The cam phasers? Let me know please, I'm getting ready to sale this thing cheap just to wash my hands of it. Thanks

Hi,

Is it the same chain that keeps jumping? If you look at the pic below, let me know which one it is.

If it is one, the tensioner itself may be bad. It is hydraulicly actuated. Just for curiosity, did the original chain jump time?

Let me know.

Joe

I'm not 100% sure. All I know is I replaced the chains, tensioners, all the guides along with the crank gear and two idler pulleys. I set the timing like it shows in Alldata, car was running ok. Something was still off but it was running ok. After driving it for a week it gradually got worse. Engine started missing, poor gas milage and no power. Talked to a few people and was told to check the cam phasers. Just to be safe, I bought all new and replaced them. Put it all back together and the car was running good. Not perfect but good. And the same thing happened. After a week of driving everything went to shit. What else can it be? Bent valves? Wouldn't it run like shit from the beginning if that was the case? I appreciate any and all help! I appreciate it so much I'm willing to buy someone dinner at whatever restaurant they choose! Lol No really! Hehe Thanks guys!

I would really like to get my hands on a GM Tech2 scanner. If anyone has one, they would like to part with.
