Hello,

Just to clarify, the key will come out of the ignition with the engine running?
If that is the case then you have a faulty lock cylinder and it probably has broken component and the key gets released even though it is not supposed to.

It is likely that the lock cylinder needs to be replaced. In order the replace the ignition lock cylinder you will have to remove the steering wheel cover. This can be done using simple hand tools.
Be sure to disconnect the battery before getting started.
To get the lock cylinder out, insert the key, turn to the Run position. Then rotate it back to ACC position.
Press the locking button through hole on the side of the ignition module with a thin pick type tool.
Slide out the lock cylinder from the housing.
