Okay, I recently changed both belts on the alternator side and power st/AC compressor due to the belts was making noise.I installed the new belts, when I start it up when the engine cold only, it would make that squeaking noise, but I noticed that the alternator is a little back is that normal? A next thing should I use belt dressing on the belts. What I was thinking was to take off back the belts and clean the pulleys with alcohol and put on back the belts and see how it runs and inspect the pulleys for bad bearing as well as the belts moving side to side, greatly appreciated for the advice.

Hello, I'm Danny.

Yes, you answered all the questions yourself! However, don't ever use any type of dressing/anti-squeak junk on the belts. That will generally glaze the belt and make things worse. Just check for proper alignment of all pulleys and bearing noise. Good job! Let us know what you find out. Hope this helps and thanks for using 2CarPros.

Okay, so I double checked all belts and pulleys and found that the power steering pump pulley was wobbling, so I replaced it with a foreign used. Now it's just the belt giving a side to side motion. What should I do about this side to side motion or is that normal? Well before I changed the steering pump I cleaned out all the pulleys which had rubber like moak in the grooves and was running good without any squeaky noise.
