4matic. The car doesn't sink but the malfunction picture for the suspension shows up on the dash. When I start it I hear this weird noisy noise from the front left which is where the issue is based on codes. Is the compressor for air suspension on that side? Level of height is okay, no issues.

Hello,

Yes, the air compressor is located just in front of that wheel inside the fender well.

If there is a leak the compressor can run all the time to keep the ride height at the proper level.
It can also just 'think' that the vehicle is losing ride height due to faulty height sensor.

Which will lead to premature ware on the compressor and that can make it much louder than it should be.

One thing you can do is to unplug the compressor and see if the vehicle loses any height. That will tell you if there is a leak of a sensor issue.

I have attached diagrams below for your reference.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you.
