Idles rough

Hey there, I got a 90 subaru legacy 2.5L mileage is going on second time around so that makes it over 100.000 miles. Problem is it runs great but when stopped at red light it idles rough and stalls unless I ride the gas. I replaced plugs and found some oil on 1 plug. This happens when I drive it for like 20 mins. Temperature gage runs a little hot.I took out thermostat and flushed engine.

90 legacy should have a 2.2l

If it has an auto trans Check the injectors, Subaru had problems with the 90 to 91 legacy 2.2l fuel injectors with Auto trans only they will be grey in color.

Possible mass air flow sensor, But also if a little coolant is getting in the combustion chamber that will cause a rough run also. Lastly if its when coming to a stop from higher speedsthat the problem is mont frequent Subarus will get sticky valves. Where the valve stem hangs up in the valve guide(sludge deposit)
