1994 Subaru Legacy

Hi, I have a 1994 Subaru Legacy 6 cylinder, 4 door with 127,000 miles on it. I'm having trouble shifting from park into drive, it will not release quickly I have to try pressing the button in several times before it releases. What is my problem. Thanks, Brenda

That could be either the switch on the brake pedal, the shift lock control unit, or the solenoid on the shifter. First check fuses 1, 2, 12. Then test for power at the white/black wire on the brake switch when brake is applied. If ok, then test for power at the solenoid on the shifter when brake applied, should have power to the red/green wire. If not it most likely is the Shift Lock Control Unit
