1991 Subaru Legacy Jump Time

The tension gear on the timing belt sheared off- it jumped
time- we replaced gear and belt and think we have lined up correctly- still won't start.
what can we do-

You will have to check compression because, usually when a belt jumps timing, there is damage to the valves. Checking compression will help determine if there is any loss of compression at the individual cylinders; leading to the conclusion that those valves at the weak cylinder is damaged.
