2002 Subaru Impreza Engine light is on, car won't accelerat

2002 Subaru Impreza 4 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic

My engine light is on. When I step on the gas pedal, the car won't accelerate like it used to. My RPM won't go up above 3000, so I be driving around 20-30km, but after running for a little while, it picks up the speed again. I noticed that this usually happens in the morning, could you please help.

If you're refering this engine light as the check engine light your 1st step is have the computer scanned for code/s to find out what's causing it to come On. There's a problem within the engine management system this is your starting point of diagnosis
