Neighbor said the clacking was a power steering pump canister. Is that right? Also, remembered when I got tires they told me I needed a left front inside "something" for the tie rod. Had previous replaced the right one of that thing. They told me the car would have road failure at some point and just leave me stranded if I didn't replace that part. What on EARTH is that "thing" and what will it take to fix it? Expense? Is it power steering canister problem or tie rod thingy problem?

You're going to have to hold your computer under your car so I can see what is wrong. There is no part called a "thingy", but there are four tie rod ends; two inners and two outers. Those can develop wear that will cause excessive tie wear and miserable steering control, but they rarely fail leading to a crash on your car model. You also have two lower ball joints.

It's a good idea to have the steering and suspension systems inspected once a year at a tire and alignment shop, and when you hear a clunk or other noise, or develop a vibration.

We don't get involved with costs here because there's way too many variables. We don't even know what is wrong or what your car needs.

Lol at the computer part. I believe the part(s) you are trying to describe are the CV boots. Be sure to go back to the place where they told you this to confirm. It should be only heard "the clanking" when you turn I believe. Now if it is this then the price for the part is relativity inexpensive and you can do it yourself if you have the correct tools.
