. The service vehicle soon light has come on for whatever reason. It's not the check engine light and it's not the change oil soon light. My question is what could be throwing this light on? I changed the oil just to make sure maybe somehow it wasn't making it go off. Seems to be driving well, shifting well, no issues or codes. What could be the issue?

That light works the same way a check engine light does, but it's for issues concerning the Body Control Module. You will need a professional level scan tool to access the BCM to get the codes.

What is all involved in the BCM? I had taken to a mechanic today and he used several diagnostic tools and could not get a code from any of them. He said something about GM has hidden codes only they can look at? Is it something minor or is it serious? :( I just bought this car.

He just didn't know what he was doing. A knowledgeable tech would have no problem at all reading those codes.
It's for body related functions to include the security system and any lighting or body related accessories like air conditioning, seats, radio and numerous other things.

I see, could it hurt anything per day until I can get enough money up to take care of it?

I can't really answer that because we don't know what the issue even is yet. Most body functions are not critical though.

Okay well I sure do appreciate it, so you suggest I find someone who can hook it up and look at it for me? I'm wondering about these HID lights that came with the car. I don't know if those would effect anything or not. I know they're. Not stock lights.

That's very possible, but you can't assume anything until you get the codes read. Just remember it's the Body module that they have to access, not the engine module. There are no "Hidden codes" when you're using the right equipment.
