I just change the serpentine belt because it broken. Now that I've changed it it still smokes when I turn it on and it seems to be coming from the AC compressor. What do I do?

Hi Dawmeefiddle,

Sounds like the compressor is locked up if this is where the belt is smoking from. Basically, when one of the pulleys is not turning then the belt just get dragged across it and it begins to get really hot and then breaks. I would suggest removing the belt and try turning each pulley by hand to see which one is very tight or doesn't turn. Most likely it is the compressor but I would check each one. Keep in mind the crank pulley will not turn by hand so the one in the middle at the bottom (usually the largest one) will not turn.

Let me know what you find and I can get you the repair procedure for that pulley if you need it.

Here is a video that shows changing the belt on a similar vehicle, just in case you need it:
