Electrical problem
2003 Saturn Vue 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive 72000 miles

when I apply my emergency brake, the red brake appears as normal, then the gas gauge drops to E and the service light appears. Releasing the e-brake makes the gas gauge return to proper level and the service light disappears.

what's going on?

Never seen that one before why don't you go to a auto part's store like auto zone and bring me back the code number's. Let me know what you find.

Actually, going to auto zone was my first attempt to solve the mystery. He connected to the computer but got no codes.

I'm wondering if it could be simply an adjustment to the e-brake or in need of a complete brake job.

It has nothing to do with your ebrake adjustment or your brake's being worn out. It's a electrical problem possible a bad ground.I need you to go to a place that can read your body control module code's. Auto zone can only read your engine and transmission code's. Go to a dealer or private shop that has the scanner that can read body code's. Let me know what they are and we will go from there.
