Hello, I'd like to know how much it would cost to repair my trunk. It will not close anymore, & I currently have it tied down tightly. I did notice the plastic/rubber piece inside the lock is torn, so would this be all that needs to be replaced or the whole lock itself, & like I said asked earlier, how much would it cost? Thanks for your help!

U could have a bad latch but since u said the plastic cover is damaged ur latch is ethier bent in towards the trunk or ur striker is out of adjustment those are the two most comon causes. What I would do is look at the striker and look where the two 10mm bolts hold it on and see if u can see where there are marks of where the bolts used to be if u cant the adjustment is probably fine. Next remove that plastic cover on the latch fold both back seats down shine ur light into the trunk have someone close the trunk holding it down see if the latch is too far foward to latch if it is u can put the plastic cover back on and grab the latch and bend it towards u so it will be aligned. Try those wo things first. Let me know what u find.

Hi, thanks for the quick reply! There is an actual rubber piece on the underside of the trunk lid that is dangling & can easily be torn off completely, which I have not torn off completely yet. I wasn't sure if I should? Also, there is a metal thing inside that does turn & click, so I think that's what you mean when you say the adjustment is working fine, so I do think that part is working. It's just that rubber thing is worn & I wouldn't be able to fix it myself, so what would you think a repair like this would cost? Thanks again!

As far as the striker adjustment I was talking about by checking the marks where it might have sliped out of place is at the bottom of the opening down by ur bumper. Also the cover I was talking about is on ur latch on ur trunk lid u said it latchs and clicks so it sounds like thats working if it opens and closes.I told u to take off the cover off that thing that latchs and clicks and have some one hold the trunk closed to see if ur trunk lid where the latch mounts is just bent and needs to be bent back its not hard to bend back if u have a little strength I have done it many times.I was trying to save u money. If it was the latch or it was bent it would cost like an hr labor so depending on the labor rate 100 plus latch then depending on the latch if it was power or not 40-80 for the latch maybe.
