Smells problem
2002 Saturn SL2 Automatic 100773 miles

I just bought this car and I went to turn on the heater yesterday after I did I started smelling this antifreeze smell my friend told me it sounded like the heater core has/is going out in it. My question to you is how hard is this to fix and about how much will it cost?

The heater core can be bypassed which will fix the issue. This is much cheaper but it does disable heating so if you need heat then this would not be recommended. To bypass the heater core, locate the two heater hoses next to firewall under hood and simpy disconnect them from the heater core, then use an extra hose to join the two other hoses together.

The cost of a new heater core is around $160 and labor costs run around $150, totaling an estimated $310 repair cost.

Replacement procedures are below if you are experienced enough to do the repairs..
