Transmission problem
2001 Saturn SL2 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive

car just stop shifting. Had a friend(tech) look at it. Console off the cable was disconnected from shifter. I replaced cables. Not it feels stuck and wont shift at all. Checked fluid and is low. Was a late fix gonna add fluid tomorrow and try again. If this doesn't work what is the next few things to look for?

The first thing I would check is on the transmission make sure the black ended shifter cable is on the bottom of the shifter control's and the white ended cable is on the top. Inside the car make sure the black closed end is on the outside driverside of the shifter and the open end is in the middle.

Just read your reply. Its just what you said. Also just fixed the problem before I read your reply. Had help from several friends on what to check. The cable just didn't seem right. But the ends were reversed as to what they looked like and how I took them off the car. I reversed the cables and the car runs like before. But I will say thanks for the reply. I will pass this on to other people on how helpful you guys are and try and get yall a donation this week. Pass this on to people to double check the cable lenths and pressure while changing these cables. White cable end at bottom side part of shifter to top of bracket at tranny. Black cable end at shifter to bottom bracket part at tranny. The colors and end pieces at tranny were reversed when I took them off. You guys rock.
